Welcome to this course

Thanks for joining this training. Everything you’ll learn here sits within the BOUNCE® Approach – our neurodevelopmental, trauma-informed framework designed to help adults understand what sits beneath ‘behaviour’ and support children in a way that builds safety, regulation, and long-term emotional wellbeing.

BOUNCE® focuses on six core areas that shape how a child feels and functions:

  • Body and Nervous System – understanding stress, safety, and regulation
  • Openness to Attachment – building trust and emotional security
  • Understanding Sensory Differences – recognising sensory needs and interoception
  • Navigating Emotions – helping children notice, name, and manage feelings
  • Connection – developing communication, relationships, and co-regulation
  • Esteem – strengthening identity, confidence, and self-worth

Each area represents a core developmental skillset. When a child has unmet needs or skill gaps in any tier, it affects everything above it — so strengthening these foundations is essential for genuine, sustainable progress.

This course contributes to one or more of these areas, giving you practical tools you can use straight away. You’ll find a mixture of insight, step-by-step strategies, and ready-to-use resources, all aligned with the BOUNCE® principles of safety, compassion, and neuro-affirming practice.

Whatever your role — parent, educator, practitioner, leader, nurse, social worker, or speech and language therapist — the aim is the same: to look at ‘behaviour’ through the lens of compassion and curiosity. To explore the ‘why’ beneath what you see, and to recognise each moment as an opportunity to support a child’s nervous system so they can feel safer, calmer, and more able to engage in the world around them.

I’m glad you’re here. Let’s get started.

Tracy 🙂
