About Course
This introductory Applied Neuroscience course explores how the developing brain and nervous system are shaped by experience, influencing how children think, feel, learn, relate and respond to the world around them. Drawing on contemporary neuroscience and the work of leading researchers, you’ll discover why children respond differently to the same experiences, how stress and adversity affect development, and why the brain’s remarkable capacity for neuroplasticity offers hope for growth and change.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a stronger understanding of what lies beneath behaviour and be equipped to recognise that children’s actions are often adaptive responses to their nervous system, their experiences and their environment, rather than deliberate choices.
This course provides the essential foundation for the Applied BOUNCE Series, preparing you to explore how relationships, sensory experiences, emotions, communication and identity all develop from the brain and nervous system. It is the starting point for understanding child development through the BOUNCE Approach®.
