Sensory Differences Activity Pack

About Course

Welcome to the Sensory Differences Activity Pack and Guided Tutorial

This resource supports children in exploring and expressing how their body experiences the world – through sound, light, movement, touch, and internal signals like hunger, pain or energy changes.

It helps children become more aware of their sensory preferences and needs, especially when they may struggle to explain them in words. Grounded in Polyvagal Theory, Spoon Theory, and trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming practice, this pack uses metaphor, visuals, and body-based cues to support co-regulation, interoceptive awareness, and emotional safety. Sensory overload and shutdown can often be misunderstood as behaviour.

This pack helps make the invisible visible – so children can be supported, not corrected. It encourages exploration without pressure, offering flexible ways to notice what’s happening inside and outside the body. Each tool in this pack is child-friendly, visual, and accessible, with suggestions for how to use it in 1:1 sessions, group settings, or at home. Whether laminated for regular use or printed as a toolkit for regulation planning, the pack adapts to the needs of the child.

What’s in This Pack This pack is divided into two parts:

Part 1: Sensory Awareness Tools A collection of statement cards, metaphor visuals, and sensory system cues (Interoception, Visual, Auditory, Tactile, Vestibular, Proprioception) to help children explore how their environment and internal world affect their emotions, energy, and regulation.

Part 2: Regulation & Energy Support Tools Visual resources grounded in the Window of Tolerance and Polyvagal Theory – including an emotional scale, brain-state visuals, and energy battery symbols (based on Spoon Theory). It also includes a Suggested Activities page to guide practical, neurodivergent-affirming use.
